LIC chair, 2010
Laser cut steel, 490mm x 650mm x 600mm
LIC chair is designed from a two-dimensional profile that minimizes surface area required for support. This steel profile is constituted as a unit of construction to be laced and multiplied by the geometric operations of copy and rotation around a vertical axis.
LIC chair´s 90º degree (seat and back) relation between each rotation axis for the construction units´ assemblage is oriented perpendicular to its pressure points: altering the relationship between volume, density and weight in constant counterpoint to the visual perception of space in which is viewed from.
LIC chair is fabricated from 108 construction units in steel laser cut through a computer control numeric machine, and aggregated according to a disposition determined by equilibrium between the points of strength and flexibility in adaptation to body weight.
